Brookes Scare
An unidentified Oxford Brookes student is currently in hospital recovering from a confirmed case of meningitis.
Brookes students have been sent e-mails warning them to be vigilant and alert the authorities immediately if they experience any symptoms. Nevertheless many people around the campus do not seem to be especially worried that the disease will spread.
The medical authorities are also doubtful that there will be any further outbreaks. A nurse stated that "only one person has caught the infection, and so only the people who are in close contact with them are at risk, such as friends or family."
The disease is caused by a bacteria which is carried in the nose and throat, and can result in fever, high temperature, rashes, vomiting and seizures.
