Varsity Victory

Last Saturday the Oxford University Athletics Men's Blues team, led by OUAC president Michael Rush, extended their unbeaten run in the Varsity Match to an impressive six straight victories. In a tense and action packed day of athletics, it was only the Men's Blues, however, who ended the day victorious with the Women's Blues and Seconds and Men's Seconds being defeated in close and hard fought struggles....

The annual Stoneygate Sevens Tournament, was attended by a 10-strong squad from OUWRFC, with newly-appointed captain Zahler Bryan leading her team out for the first time. Already high hopes of progression were lifted with the news that both Saracens and Wasps had withdrawn from the competition, and the team sailed through the group stages. An impressive performance against Sheffield yielded six tries, including Bryan's first as captain, with conversions from Keshena Richardson and Rosie Collins. ...

Sport: Linacre Spike St Anne

The Volleyball Cuppers took place on Saturday May 17 2003 at the Christ Church Sports ground... With a record entry of 13 teams, it promised a great day of grass volleyball. The first round of the tournament saw the eight stronger teams prevailing from the Group stages (Wild Catz, Meercatz and Thundercatz from Catz, Merton B, St Anne's, Corpus I, Linacre, and the Polish team from St Anthony's), and two teams (Wolfson and Pembroke) disqualified for breaking a Cuppers rule. In the semi-finals, two teams from St Catz fought head-to-head, and last year's winner, St Anne's, played the ever-strong Linacre team for a place in this year's final....

Following a disappointing performance in the Mixed Lacrosse Cuppers tournament, Worcester had a lot to prove going in to the League final. Both Worcester and Merton/ Christchurch were fired up for the match, which took place last Monday in the Parks. From the start, the match was closely fought with aggression and spirit from both teams. ...

Emile Heskey is the most despicable player in the premiership (although Robbie Savage and Roy Keane have a claim) because he is so very, very poor. Henry a shade smaller in both height and weight has the touch, the control and the ability of a demi-god. Emile Heskey has none of these. He is quite simply a devastatingly bad player who should be devastatingly good....
