Oxford 9th gayest town
It's official - Oxford is the ninth 'most gay place in England and Wales', according to a recent poll, writes Tom Pinnock.
Based on 2001 census data, the poll, unsurprisingly, found Brighton to be number one, with London a close second. Nationally, gay seaside towns appear to be the dominant trend, with Blackpool and Bournemouth at four and five respectively, and Bristol and Lewes sandwiching Oxford at the end of the top ten.
Cambridge is officially the sixth 'most gay place in England and Wales', whilst the least gay are, among others, Hartlepool in Cleveland and Solihull.
