A group of Engineering students from Oxford Brookes are to take their self-designed car to Detroit next month to compete in the Formula SAE championship.

The prototype ISIS03B is a single-seat racing car powered by a Triumph Daytona 600cc engine, and took the team just six months to create. Ian Bowbrick, from the Royal Academy of Engineering, said: "The team's superb work in a fascinating area of technology demonstrates great innovation. We wish them every success in Detroit."

The team will race in Detroit, before heading to the Formula Student championship in June. At the same event last year, with the ISIS03, they obtained the UK title, and finished fifth overall, behind universities such as Toronto and Helsinki.
