Glad-Stolen
The Oxford Union was this week left reeling after a portrait of Gladstone and the "last original copy" of the King and Country debate order disappeared from the historic society writes Matt Trueman.
While the picture, which went missing around the time of an inter-university debate, "isn't particularly valuable," the debate order is of "huge sentimental and historic value for the Union."
Greg Stafford, Chair of the Union's Heritage Advisory Committee, told The OxStu that an ex-president had suggested that the blame may lie with Trinity College, Dublin.
George Costa, President of the Union, reacted more diplomatically saying, "I can assure members that we are taking every possible step to ensure their safe return."
