From RAGs to riches
OUSU's RAG week begins on Saturday, starting eight days of putting the fun back into fund-raising.
With punting, Pop Idol and pub crawls, the events promise to add yet more to the £40,000 already raised by RAG events during this academic year.
Josefa Henry-Bochan, OUSU Vice President for Charities and Community, told The OxStu: "It will be the culmination of a brilliant year, which has raised more money than ever before and got more people involved."
To mark the event, which also includes RAGstonbury, a day of live music at St John's College, The OxStu has obtained the current College RAG league table, which shows the winners and losers in the race to raise.
Best of the benefactors are St Anne's, who stand out with a hand out of over £1,430. Martin McNulty, who coordinates RAG events for the College, told The OxStu that his college's success was down to "persistence" and "encouraging as many people as possible to take part."
Among those not gaining satisfaction from benefaction are St Peter's, who have so far raised absolutely nothing. James Bounds, charities officer, was keen to point out that Peter's does not see benevolence as an irrelevance, but have not yet passed on their contribution to OUSU.
He added: "We have held a charity auction that raised £500, and this Trinity we're holding a charity sleep-out, in which we hope to raise a further £500."
Exeter's donation dislocation was put down to the fact that their RAG committee rep, Jessica Cullimore, was only recently elected.
