Teddy Hall JCR threatens legal action against ball crashers
St Edmund Hall's Bohemian Ball received some unexpected guests last Saturday as students succeeded in scaling an adjoining wall and evading security.
Around ten students from a number of colleges used ladders to climb over New College garden wall, landing behind a marquee and getting in for free.
Measures were taken to prevent ticket forgery as ball-goers were issued with embossed tickets and given wristbands on the door.
Despite the use of fencing throughout Teddy Hall grounds and with hired independent security staff dealing with a number of incidents during the night, some students managed to crash the event.
Those who braved the heights of New College wall were brought to the organisers' attention by CCTV footage of the night. Although many claim success in gaining free entry to college balls each year, organisers of Teddy Hall's extravaganza are considering taking action against those who got in.
Pete Chapman, Co-Ball President for Teddy Hall, told The OxStu: "The Bohemian Ball was sold out and this is possibly why people felt the need to 'gatecrash'. We would like to point out that this type of action is irresponsible and potentially dangerous and not to be applauded or encouraged."
