Corpus intruder sparks security alert
A Corpus Christi student was surprised to find an uninvited visitor in his bedroom after he left the door to his flat unlocked.
The intruder found his way into the flat in the Fellows Building in College grounds in the early hours of May 8th. Third year physicist Andrew Walters discovered a man he described as being around 18 years of age, with short spiky hair, after he went to investigate noises coming from his room.
The intruder, thought to be homeless, identified himself as "Paul" and left without resistance.
Walters and a porter, along with three other students, then searched the College and the man was later found in a toilet before being escorted off College grounds. At this point the intruder became more aggressive towards Walters, stating he had not stolen anything. After being removed from Corpus Christi lodge, he disappeared into a garden. The police were called and took CCTV footage.
Walters told The OxStu: "I don't think he meant any harm; he just seemed like he wanted a bed for the night."
Assistant Dean Rudolph Glitz said he was confident of College security, but warned students to keep their doors locked at all times.
