Security guards employed by the council to warn people not to jump off Magdalen Bridge on Mayday morning allegedly failed to tell jumpers that they would be landing in less than two feet of water. Students spoken to by The Oxford Student claimed that guards were betting amongst themselves on how many revellers would throw themselves into the River Cherwell.


News: Trinity Condom Sabotage Forces JCRs To Rethink Open Supply

Emergency measures are being taken by JCRs across the university after the Trinity JCR condom supply was found to have been sabotaged. It was discovered last Wednesday that free condoms provided by the Trinity welfare team had all been pierced with a pin.

A Christ Church first year has had his entire student loan stolen after falling prey to credit card fraud. The student, who does not wish to be named, discovered that he was £700 overdrawn last Sunday, even though he had only received his student loan a few days previously. He had yet to pay his battels. The student’s credit card details were also used to buy a computer on the Internet costing around £1,500.

News: Hertford Latest To Ban Smoking

Hertford JCR has narrowly passed a hotly-contested motion to ban smoking in the college bar at the request of the SCR. The motion proposed by JCR president Stephanie Johnston was the subject of heated debate at the meeting, before being passed with a majority of just six votes.

A Brasenose JCR member has proposed a novel ways to help alleviate finalists’ exam stress after college authorities threatened to crackdown on the downloading of illicit material. Third year Psychologist Jamie Paterson suggested the recent increase in the downloading of illegal material amongst students was due to the pressure of exams.

A former Oriel student has been banned from college property and heavily fined after a prank backfired. A German tourist and his sister were drenched after history graduate David Vaiani threw water from a college window, causing £250 worth of damage to their camera.
