Alive And Killing

A photograph of the band.

This album is a veritable bottle of quality dry red floating in a sea of Lambrini: it’s not merely that it won’t be appreciated by the plebeian masses, but even the most astute rock enthusiast may not find it easy to swallow upon a first listen.

Music: Classical Review

Only characters in operas, and the more impressionable in Freshers' week, become engaged within minutes of first setting eyes on each other. Both one-act operas staged by touring company Opera Anywhere had this element in common, but were otherwise very different in their portrayals of love.

Music: Instruction - God Doesn't Care

Instruction are one of those bands that seem to have been namechecked by every ‘cool’ band and musician and whose support slots beneath cult bands have been salivated over time and time again by journalists, but who haven’t had a full length record to their name.

Music: Electrelane - Axes

As soon as you start listening to this album, you can tell that Electrelane are ridiculously excited about working with Steve Albini. Who cares about melody? Time signatures? For the weak.
