Oxford student sexually assaulted in North Oxford
Assault
A 21 year-old student was sexually assaulted close to Keble College and Lady Margaret Hall last week. The woman, who could not be named for legal reasons, was cycling along Norham Road at 4.45pm on Tuesday 10th May, when a man approached on a motorbike and attacked her. The man continued to follow her as she cycled along the footpath into Barwell Road. He drove off only after being disturbed by two men. The Police are now appealing for the two men to come forward.
The case is being dealt with by PC Karen Zoldan at Cowley police station. The attacker is described as: “white, with a pale complexion” with “distinctive light blue eyes and freckles. He was wearing a black waterproof jacket which had a blue stripe across the back.” The police are appealing for anyone who was in this area of Oxford around the time of the incident and saw a man of this description to contact the police.
A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police told The Oxford Student: "In light of this attack we would remind students in this area to be vigilant and take precautions by not walking home alone.” Student Union VP (Women) Bex Wilkinson said: “This is a major concern for students. People should be sensible when going out and make sure they stick with their friends.”
