Oxford takes step toward centralised alumni donations
Donations from alumni of Oxford University may be centralised after Cambridge announced plans to pool contributions in a bid to dramatically raise university wide funds. The announcement came after Cambridge posted a £10.5m financial deficit recorded for the academic year 2003-4. As yet there has no been no official announcement that Oxford intends to follow suit, however a new Pro Vice-Chancellor for Development been appointed for the next academic year.
A spokesperson for the Oxford University Development Office told The Oxford Student: “Financial organisation will be one of the things he will be looking at very carefully.” Dr Jon Dellandrea will take up the newly created post, after moving from the University of Toronto, an institution organised in a similar way to Oxford.
