Bleak, Black, Brilliant

From the film : Mickey Rourke after being beaten by the ugly stick several times

An electric blonde clad in an iridescent red dress stares moodily out over the sprawl of Basin City. A man approaches from across the roof terrace in a sharp suit. He’s not dressed for dinner. There’s a whisper of a gunshot as the sultry dame collapses in the arms of her killer.

Film: Life Lessons

From the film : Di Girolamo: not a frivolous man

The Consequences of Love shares many of the same qualities as its leading protagonist. Lucky for us he’s a fascinating guy with hidden depths. When we first meet Titta Di Girolamo (a superb Servillo) he is quiet, refined, ponderous. Slinking about his hotel residence he casts weary looks at his fellow guests, dull eyes staring at a dull world.

Film: Pure Schmaltz

Watching Kindergarden Cop with Arnold Schwarzenegger, it’s easy to think “Hollywood got it right for once! Action heroes can actually be funny playing mushy sensitive men!” The Pacifier, however, is an example of Disney getting it absolutely wrong.
