Bespectacled referee Jason Pawluk, one of the The Oxford Student’s top sports writers, put pay to a promising Oxstu start in which a deft left-footed shot from Editor Roger Waite slipped easily into the Cherwell goal.

Following the successess of last season, the Oxford University Cycling Club found themselves with much to live up to this year. Capitalising on a strong squad, the Oxford team managed to enhance their reputation, the season’s highlight coming at the Varsity Match which saw a comprehensive victory over the Light Blue pretenders.

A fitting crowd flocked to the University Parks on Tuesday to watch what promised to be one of the closest cricket cuppers finals of recent times. St Edmund Hall and Pembroke came into the game full of confidence, after a cup run which saw both convincingly dispose of all their previous opponents.

The Blues tennis team breezed to an easy victory on Sunday, brushing aside a Nottingham University side who had come into the match off the back of a respectable third place finish in the BUSA Premier Division North.
