Oxford Student redesign: Don't believe the hype

By The Oxford Student

If this text is legible, in a font you can read and on the left hand side of page ten then all will have gone according to plan and you will be reading the first issue of the re-designed Oxford Student. If not, then something will have gone horribly wrong. Newspaper redesigns are like very much like facelifts for middle aged women: expensive, labour- intensive, and not guaranteed to produce a more attractive product. But that does not seem to make them any less popular.

Perhaps we have only done it to get talked about. But then again, is there really anything wrong wtih self-aggrandisement? The old paper was not broken, so we certainly haven’t fixed anything. But we have changed it. Not only on these pages, but throughout. Let us know what you think, what we have done well, what could be done better. It is your newspaper as much as it is ours. Of course we don’t promise to heed your opinions, but we would like to hear them.

And if you think it a disaster then spare a thought for what could have been. We were going to call the pull-out HYPE.
