Zuby video premieres at Filth

By Katie Cotton

Oxford hip hop artist Zuby premiered his new music video, Steppin’ 2 Me, at Filth last night (Wednesday). The Teddy Hall finalist and self-proclaimed ‘Bad Man’ of rap also performed the track live, along with two singles from his last album ‘Commercial Underground’ and two new singles. The video was filmed at the end of last term in a £1300 shoot by film production company Films 2 Remember.

It featured Nzube Udezue, aka Zuby, leading Oxford students walking down New College Lane chanting the lyrics. Footage was also taken from the Radcliffe Camera and Cornmarket Street. Zuby said, “It looks really good and I’m very excited. It turned out exactly how I wanted it to.” The video will be played on Channel U, and Zuby will send a copy to MTV Base. It will also be on Youtube and Myspace.

Matt Rhodes, a second-year law student at LMH, said, “Anyone who can organise a video shoot with all the red tape that comes with that and then get 30 or more students out in the pouring rain to appear in it is someone you need to pay attention to.” About Steppin’ 2 Me, Zuby said, “I just wrote it to prove I’m a good rapper.” Zuby finishes his Computer Science degree this summer and afterwards plans to focus completely on music.
