New Oxford website

By William Breame

A student-run website has launched a new homepage designed for Oxford students. The website, called ClickUni, has merged Google, Wikipedia, and Facebook into one search bar. It also offers listings for Oxfordbased events, and the possibility of creating a personal home page. Andy Young, a second-year student at St. John’s, is Technical Director of the website.

Young told The Oxford Student, “Our target is to have it used by 100% of the people who would actually like to.” Academics have congratulated the student entrepreneurs. Dr. Gerd Kortuem at Lancaster University said, “It was something we had thought about here, but it never got off the ground. Even if they fail, they would have learned something.” Bop Oxford, another student website which aims to list every event taking place in Oxford on an particular evening, was launched on Sunday.

A spokesperson from Bop Oxford told The Oxford Student, “Students can submit and sell tickets or even search and buy with our magic online ticket system; gone are the days of pidge post, cheques and queues."
