Portillo book boost

Staff at a publishing group in Botley have Michael Portillo to thank after their first print run of Bradshaw’s Handbook soared to second place on the Amazon bestsellers list.

The book features heavily in Portillo’s BBC series Great British Railway Journeys, and spokesman Abraham Davies stated that staff at Old House Books and Maps, part of the Osprey publishing group in Botley, are “very surprised and delighted” to see their first print run of a reproduction of the 1863 edition sell out in less than forty days.

The book, despite being currently out of print, was sat at number two on the list at the time of writing, having been in the top 100 for 27 days. A second print run of another 10,000 copies will reach warehouses next week and there is already talk of a third.
