Somerville Choir sing at St. Paul’s

Somerville choir sang evensong at St Paul’s Cathedral to mark the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne.

The choir performed in front of the Bishop of London, the chaplain to the Queen, and college alumni.

David Crown, the College’s Director of Chapel Music, said: “It was our fifth cathedral service in the last couple of years. The choir sang exceptionally well, with the clergy commenting on how well we filled the space compared with the majority of visiting choirs. We were even immediately booked for a return visit.”

He added: “It is a great feeling hearing the choir sensationally echo around the great dome, with resonance, fine tuning and great power.  I am glad that the quality of the choir’s singing is increasingly being recognised.”
