Hitler postcard

A postcard from Adolf Hitler as a young soldier has been uncovered by Oxford researchers.

The postcard, dated December 1916, was written from Munich while Hitler was on leave from the First World War and describes a trip to the dentist.

One of the leaders of the European 1914-18 project, Dr Stuart Lee, an English don at Oxford, said: “When I was first handed the postcard, I felt a shudder run through me. I found it hard to believe that at a local event to record ordinary people’s stories, I was seeing a previously unknown document in Hitler’s own hand.”
