Theatrical Oxonians: Emma Watson

OK, so she was here for what, like twenty minutes? But Hermione’s impact on the Oxford University scene was fairly substantial. For one it meant that the ‘VIP’ areas of the various clubs became actually vaguely necessary (and not just that place you end up when you get drunk and take your credit card out with you – oh you bottles of Absolut my loan can’t afford). This month the Oxonian actress stars in The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and you know what? She’s actually pretty good. Yes, we’ll miss getting endless tip-offs we don’t want to print about which Frenchman she’s dating, or whether she’s in the RadCam, but if we get to see her beautiful face in relatively decent films, we’re probably OK with that.
