Alumnus in plane crash tragedy

A recent Oxford graduate has been killed in a plane crash in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Ben Ogden, 27, who studied German and Law, was one of seven British tourists to die when the Sita Air plane came down minutes after taking-off from the capital for Lukla.

The Briton was on a three-week trekking holiday to the foothills of Mount Everest in the Himalayas when the accident occurred.

It is believed a vulture with a wingspan of 10ft flew into one of the plane’s engines shortly after take-off, with the plane then crashing into a riverbank and catching fire. None of the nineteen passengers or crew survived.
