Fire at the Randolph

Local News News

A fire broke out at the Randolph Hotel this afternoon.

Smoke was seen billowing out of the building at around 4.30pm. Multiple fire engines were rushed to the scene, as well as an ambulance and a police helicopter.

All pedestrians were evacuated from Beaumont Street, as fire officers wearing gas masks were seen entering the building. According to The Oxford Mail, the fire started in the hotel’s kitchen and is not being treated as suspicious.

The neighbouring Oxford Playhouse tweeted that the fire was “contained” and that tonight’s performance will go ahead as planned.

Oxford University’s OUSU offices were also evacuated due to smoke.
