St Hilda’s students evacuated during fire at nearby school

A fire has broken out at a sports hall in Magdalen School, next to St Hilda’s College.

The fire was first noticed by residents at around 7.35pm. Dozens of St Hilda’s students have been evacuated from their accommodation.

St Hilda’s student Maddie Taylor told The OxStu that she saw “broken windows and billowing smoke”, adding that the fire “appears to be localized to the roof” of the sports hall.

It is currently unknown whether anybody has been hurt.

St Hilda’s student Emma Hall says that she “fled the building in a state of panic” after fire officers came knocking round college rooms when she was revising at around 19.45.
