It has been confirmed that on Thursday 24th May an Oxford Tube bus caught fire on the M40.
The bus, which was bound for London, had to be stopped just off the M40’s junction 4.
A spokesperson for Stagecoach, which operates the Oxford Tube, explained: “One of our drivers detected a problem with his vehicle during a journey to London this morning. The driver pulled over and ensured all passengers exited the coach safely.
“Customers were then able to continue their journeys on a replacement coach. The fire service attended the scene as a result of the incident and there was some damage caused to our vehicle.
“Safety is our absolute priority. We will carry out a thorough investigation into the cause of this incident.”
Reports from the scene indicated that no passengers were injured.
