An international peer mentoring initiative has been launched this Michaelmas Term by the Student Union, where new students can sign up to be assigned a ‘mentor’ of the same country of origin. The scheme aims ‘to foster a more inclusive environment for international students’, where mentors are expected to give advice on adjusting to life in Oxford.
As of 2018, 43% of Oxford’s students come from abroad. The most popular countries include the USA, China and America, out of over 140 countries and territories represented in the student body. The scheme includes both undergraduate and postgraduate freshers.
Those interested can still ‘opt-in’ to be involved in the scheme.
